About the Artist:
Virginia Jennings is a self-taught artist, currently residing in Apple Valley CA, but originally from the small town of Lynden WA.
“I taught elementary school for 15 years and was able to utilize my artistic talents there. However, it wasn’t until meeting and marrying my husband Gary, that I was able to more fully explore the arts.
Gary and I met in 2016-he is a singer/songwriter/guitarist. He is also a 100% disabled Vietnam veteran. We married in 2017 and moved to the high desert of CA where we enjoyed our time together and explored music, while I started to dabble in painting. We collaborated on an album, with me writing lyrics and Gary putting it all to music. I created/painted the cover of the album and we had it recorded and produced CDs. As I continued to explore painting, I branched out from just watercolor to acrylics. I still very much consider myself a newbie.
When I ran across the Guitars for Vets program, I thought it was such a cool thing! Then I saw the Art Strings program and knew I had to apply! Being married to a vet and a guitarist just made it seem like it was meant to be. This was truly a labor of love. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it!”
